CAMP OVERVIEW
Home to two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses, The Kaziranga National Park is a dream destination for any avid wildlife enthusiast and photographer. Spread over 430km2, this lush green flood plain is fed by the mighty Brahmaputra, and comprises of tall, dense grasslands interspersed with canebrakes, open woodlands, interconnecting streams and numerous lakes or ‘beels‘. Living amongst these amazing forests are 1641 adult one-horned rhinos, and boasts of one of the worlds highest density of tigers. The park is also home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, and the only apes found in India, the Western Hoolock Gibbon, apart from being a hotspot for 470 species of birds.
What’s better, The Outback Experience’s Phillip & Samantha Ross, will guide you into the forests, take you through the fundamentals of wildlife photography and equip you with a good understanding of wildlife behaviour that will help you take stunning photographs. Phillip has been travelling to Kaziranga since 2008 and knows these forests like the back of his hand and will lead you to places where tiger sightings are known to happen.
