WORKSHOP AGENDA

Dates: 14th & 15th October, 2023 (Saturday & Sunday)

Workshop Location: BHIVE, BTM Layout

Workshop Timings: 10 AM to 4 PM on both days.

DAY 1:

On arrival at the venue, the workshop instructor will welcome all participants and will present an introduction to digital photography to help your child understand the basics such as camera formats, megapixels, understanding your camera body, lenses, focal length and camera accessories.

Once your child  has a good grasp of the basics, we will turn to the core aspect of photography – EXPOSURE. We will briefly discuss the exposure triangle and exposure program modes before lunch.

After lunch, we will help your child master Aperture, Shutter, ISO and Exposure Compensation using the various program modes such as Manual, Aperture priority and Shutter priority. Your child will certainly have a better grasp of and feel more confident with their cameras after this session.

It’s practice time, and we will lead all participants into the venue’s beautiful garden to practice what they’ve learnt so far during the workshop. The garden is a perfect place to try out exposure compensation and metering.

We end day one of the workshop with some invaluable tips and tricks.

DAY 2:

On day two, we will first bring everyone up to speed by summarising the previous day’s sessions before we begin to learn all there is to know about focussing, where we will provide instruction on manual focus, autofocus, autofocus points and focus modes.

After a great time learning focussing, it’s time for a topic that everyone finds quite fascinating – depth of field (DOF). Your child will learn about the various aspects that influence depth of field and learn how to capture images with a shallow or deep depth of field.

Your child will now be taught how to master photographing in the dark with a fun session on low light and night photography. Using the bulb mode, your child will love learning about light painting and all that it needs to take to practice star trail photography, lightning photography etc.

We will now present some of his finest images and talk about composition, and help your child showcase their work a lot more efficiently.

As the workshop winds to a close, we will help your child understand topics such as sharpness, image stabilization, white balance, using filters, best practices of photography, cleaning and maintenance and buying equipment.

We will clear everyone’s doubts with a question-and-answer session and a final rendezvous before bidding adieu.

Have questions about this workshop?

We hope you'll find your answers here.

Who is this workshop for?

Any child or teen between the ages of 10 and 16 is welcome to enrol for this workshop. There are no other eligibility criteria, just a passion to learn photography.

My child is older or younger than 10 and 16. Can an exception be made?

The age group of the children has been carefully chosen keeping in mind the content and style of delivery. However, if your child is outside the age group and you’re interested in admitting him or her, please talk to us.

How do I make the payment?

We have multiple payment options available from which you may choose one as per your convenience. Details will be shared when we receive your enquiry.

How many participants can be expected to attend?

A maximum of 10 children are expected. The Outback Experience’s USP is to provide as much individual attention and quality time to each participant as possible and thus the workshop strength has been kept low. We do not cater to very large groups per batch!

Where is the workshop and what kind of food can we expect?

The workshop will be held in BHIVE, BTM Layout.
A simple, delicious lunch will be served.

What are the requisites for the Workshop?

Bringing your own camera is strongly recommended, since we’ll have practical exercises for all the discussed topics. This camera should ideally be a Digital SLR (DSLR) or Mirrorless to make the most out of the workshop. In case you do not have a DSLR or Mirrorless, a point-and-shoot camera with manual controls will also suffice. Please contact us if you’re not sure if your camera is suitable or if you require help to hire a camera. If your child has prior photography experience, they may bring, on a portable storage device, some pictures they have taken for review.

Will my child be safe during the workshop?

Don’t worry at all! Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us. The workshop instructor is well trained with regards to child protection and health and safety.
