We at The Outback believe that every child has their own unique creative bent and we will help your child tap and develop their creativity and talent for photography through this fun-filled workshop.

The workshop is led by photographers,  Samantha Ross who is exceptional with children and will ensure a fun, educational, interactive and creative time.

The workshop will include not only theory-based learning, but a lot of practical learning too.

And the best part, this will be a private one-on-one workshop, so your child is not tied down to the schedule of a group class. This workshop can be conducted as per your child’s convenience.

Workshop requirements: 

  1. DSLR camera / Mirrorless camera / Bridge camera / or any camera with manual controls. (We can also assist with camera rentals in Bangalore only)

  2. Good internet

  3. Zoom account (kids below age 18 need to use their parent’s Zoom account)

DAY 1:

  • Introduction to Digital Photography
  • Cameras, Lenses & Accessories
  • Working & Understanding of your camera

We begin the online workshop, with your instructor welcoming your child and will present an introduction to digital photography to help your child understand the basics such as camera formats, megapixels, understanding your camera body, lenses, focal length, camera accessories and how the camera works. 

DAY 2:

  • The Program Dial
  • Introduction to Exposure
  • Mastering Exposure

Now that your child  has a good grasp of the basics, we will turn to the core aspect of photography – EXPOSURE. We will briefly discuss the exposure triangle and exposure program modes.

Once they have understood the basics of exposure, we will teach them how to shoot images using the Manual Mode and Aperture Priority Mode.

Once they have completely understood both the modes, we close the day giving your child a small assignment for the next class.

DAY 3:

  • Exposure Compensation
  • Focussing
  • Depth of Field

Today is all about mastering exposure compensation and focussing, where we will provide instruction on manual focus, autofocus, autofocus points and focus modes.

It’s time for a topic that everyone finds quite fascinating – depth of field (DOF). Your child will learn about the various aspects that influence depth of field and learn how to capture images with a shallow or deep depth of field.

Your child will certainly have a better grasp of photography and feel more confident with their cameras after this session.

We end the day of the workshop with some invaluable tips and tricks.

DAY 4:

  • Composition
  • Sharpness
  • Camera maintenance

We start the day by summarising what was taught the previous day. We now present some of our finest images and talk about composition, and help your child showcase their work a lot more efficiently.

As the workshop winds to a close, we will help your child understand topics such as sharpness, image stabilization, best practices of photography and cleaning and maintenance.

We will clear your child’s doubts with a question-and-answer session and a final rendezvous before bidding adieu.

Cancellation Fees

  • 10% outside 30 days before the workshop
  • 25% between 29 and 22 days before the workshop
  • 50% between 21 and 15 days before the workshop
  • 75% between 14 and 8 days before the workshop
  • 100% within 7 days before the workshop

Who is this workshop for?

Any child, teen or young adult between the ages of 10 and 17 is welcome to enrol for this workshop. There are no other eligibility criteria, just a passion to learn photography.

My child is older or younger than 10 and 17. Can an exception be made?

The age group of the children has been carefully chosen keeping in mind the content and style of delivery. However, if your child is outside the age group and you’re interested in admitting him or her, please talk to us.

How do I make the payment?

We have multiple payment options available from which you may choose one as per your convenience. Details will be shared when we receive your enquiry.

How many participants can be expected to attend?

This is a private class for only your child. However, if you would like to enrol 2 or 3 kids at a time, please contact us.

What are the requisites for the Workshop?

Having your own camera is strongly recommended, since we’ll have practical exercises for all the discussed topics. This camera should ideally be a Digital SLR (DSLR) or a Mirrorless camera, to make the most out of the workshop. In case you do not have a DSLR or Mirrorless, a point-and-shoot camera with manual controls will also suffice. 

As this is a virtual/online interactive workshop, you must have good internet.

The workshop will be taking place over Zoom Conference calls.
