The Kanha Tiger Reserve is arguably one of the best locations in the world to photograph wildlife in the winter season, and is also home to the endangered hard-ground barasingha. Its sal forests hold Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, jackals, jungle cats, wild boar, sambar and spotted deer, primates, and birdlife including vultures, storks, hornbills, bee-eaters and flycatchers.
The tour runs five safaris, with Phillip Ross - who has been visiting Kanha since 2010 - guiding you through camera settings and tiger behaviour throughout.

Four days, as they run
Day1
Arrival at the lodge and a welcome from Phillip Ross, with a photography-session orientation before dinner.
Day2-3
Early morning departures target tigers during their most active hours at dawn and dusk. Afternoons are given to birdwatching, and evenings to a further safari.
We gather each evening for a photography review session with Phillip.
Day4
A final morning safari, then a breakfast debrief and the return drive to Jabalpur or Nagpur.

- 50% cancellation fee 45 days or more before the tour
- 100% cancellation fee within 30 days before the tour

Who is this tour for?
Anybody above the age of 18 with a passion to learn and master photography. There are no other eligibility criteria.
How many participants can be expected to attend?
A maximum of 3 participants are expected. The Outback Experience’s USP is to provide as much individual attention and quality time to each participant as possible and thus the group strength has been kept low. We do not cater to very large groups per batch!
Where are we staying and what sort of accommodation and food can we expect?
We will be staying at a beautiful lodge on the forest’s edge, home to many species of birds. The food served is a delicious spread of local, Indian and continental delicacies.
What are the requisites for the tour?
Bringing your own camera is strongly recommended. This camera should ideally be a Mirrorless or Digital SLR (DSLR) and lens with a focal length of at least 300mm to make the most out of the photography tour. In case you do not have the recommended equipment, please contact us and we will help you hire a camera or lens.
