Panna| Panna Tiger Reserve
Emerald Wilderness
Four nights and five days at Panna Tiger Reserve, whose gorges and teak forests hold one of India’s great conservation stories, with six safaris and expert guidance from Phillip Ross.
One of India’s conservation triumphs
The reserve derives its name from the ancient kingdom of Panna, a region rich in legend, history and culture. Its landscape is dramatically different from other tiger reserves - deep gorges, plateaus, cascading waterfalls, and the crystal-clear waters of the Ken river carving through the forest.
Panna is one of India’s conservation triumphs, having rebuilt its tiger population from near-extinction, and is also one of the best places in the country to photograph Indian vultures. The reserve also holds leopards, sloth bears, wild dogs, hyena and abundant birdlife.
Phillip Ross, who knows the reserve well, guides six safaris across the tour, with the possibility of a Ken River boat safari.
